Cook Farm Project

The Tiverton Land Trust is partnering with The Nature Conservancy to conserve and protect Cook Farm, a 45-acre parcel of forest land located in the Nonquit watershed

The Tiverton Land Trust is partnering with  The Nature Conservancy to conserve and protect Cook Farm, a 45-acre parcel of forest land located in the Nonquit watershed, across Main Road from Nonquit Pond and Fogland. For the past 25 years the Tiverton Land Trust, working with TNC and other Rhode Island conservation allies, has been protecting Tiverton’s crucial open space and forest land, beginning with our flagship property, Pardon Gray Preserve. Since our inception in 1996, we have conserved over 690- acres of open space across Tiverton. Preserving the Cook farm property will allow us to bridge one of the few remaining gaps in this permanent resource for freshwater and wildlife, while protecting the headwaters on the property that flow to the Fogland Marsh and the Sakonnet River.

The agreement with the landowner and TNC will ensure that the Tiverton Land Trust is a co-holder of a conservation easement on the property, protecting this open space in perpetuity.  To make this happen, we have agreed to help TNC in its efforts to raise the balance of $200,000 needed to close the deal by the end of the year.

This project is critical to our mission of preserving open space in Tiverton and we can’t do it alone. Donate today to protect Tiverton’s rural beauty for generations to come.
